Thank you Ashland!

Feelin’ jazzed with my
“campaign manager” Lorrie

The vast majority of Ashland votes have been counted as the last mail-in ballots come in. Our margin of victory is insurmountable. We did it. We won!

I feel honored, humbled and more determined than ever to do the very best I can for the people of Ashland.

We came together as a formidable team! We canvassed every neighborhood, scaled steep inclines, hosted house parties, planted yard signs, wrote endorsement letters, chipped in what we could, and talked to our families and friends about our choices. And then, most importantly, we voted. It was a great day for democracy!

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed knocking on doors, meeting people, and having spontaneous doorstep conversations all over town. I personally made it to 3,342 homes — well over a third of Ashland’s voting households. I listened to people’s stories. And I met many people who are excited about re-engaging in our community in a positive way. After two years of keeping our distance from each other, our social need to reconnect is more powerful than ever. And that’s a very good thing.

I’m more energized than ever to serve our community…all of it.

I’m thinking about how I can best help us come together to tackle the challenges we talked about during the campaign – affordability and housing, climate change, our local economy, and making it easier for all of us to participate meaningfully in the governance of our community. I plan to continue conversations on doorsteps, in coffee shops, and on electronic media. I also intend to keep up my website and send occasional newsletters to keep information flowing. I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions about what works best for you and how we can continue to widen the circle.

Lorrie and I spent several hours on Election Day and yesterday driving around Ashland to collect all my campaign yard signs. The combination of bright sunshine, blue sky, fall foliage, and a dusting of snow on Grizzly Peak was a spectacular sight. What a beautiful community we live in! It was a sweet coda to the election.

Thanks again for your love and support. I look forward to taking this journey with you.

Allbest,

Bob
